Reliable IBC delivery across the Mid-Atlantic region
Dedicated fleet with same-day to scheduled service options
We Handle the Heavy Lifting
Transporting IBC totes is awkward, heavy, and compliance-sensitive. Each empty 275-gallon tote weighs roughly 130 lbs, occupies 48 x 40 inches of floor space, and may have held regulated materials requiring documented chain-of-custody handling.
Baltimore IBC Recycling operates its own fleet of trucks specifically configured for IBC transport. We pick up from your facility, deliver reconditioned units to your door, and handle all logistics in between — including manifesting, loading, and securing.
No third-party brokers. No surprise surcharges. Just reliable, scheduled service from a team that moves IBC totes every single day.

Vehicles Built for IBC Transport
From a single tote pickup to full truckload hauls, we have the right vehicle for every job.
Flatbed Trucks
20-24 IBCs per loadOpen flatbed configuration allows side-loading with forklift for fast turnaround at facilities without loading docks. Ideal for construction sites, farms, and outdoor storage yards.
Enclosed Box Trucks
16-20 IBCs per loadEnclosed transport protects containers from weather and road debris during transit. Preferred for food-grade and pharmaceutical IBCs that require contamination-free handling.
Tractor-Trailers
56+ IBCs per loadFull 53-foot trailers for high-volume pickups and deliveries. Most cost-effective per-unit transport for large container inventories. Dock-height loading required.
Liftgate-Equipped Trucks
8-12 IBCs per loadHydraulic liftgate eliminates the need for a forklift or loading dock at your location. Perfect for small businesses, retail locations, and residential properties.
Pickup & Delivery on Your Timeline
We understand that your operation has its own rhythm. That is why we offer flexible scheduling options ranging from same-day rush service to recurring weekly or monthly pickups for high-volume accounts.
- Same-Day / Next-Day
Available within the Baltimore metro zone. Call before 10 AM for same-day pickup.
- Scheduled Appointments
Choose a specific date and time window. We confirm 24 hours ahead and provide an ETA on the day.
- Recurring Service
Set a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickup schedule. Your driver knows your facility and load patterns.
- On-Call Service

Bulk Transport Savings
Transporting IBCs in bulk dramatically reduces per-unit shipping costs. A full tractor-trailer carrying 56 totes costs significantly less per container than multiple smaller truck dispatches.
Ideal for small businesses and one-time pickups
Best value for mid-volume operations
Lowest per-unit cost — preferred for large accounts
Every Shipment, Fully Compliant
IBC transport involves regulatory requirements that general freight carriers often overlook. Our drivers and vehicles are specifically equipped and trained for container logistics.
DOT Compliance
All vehicles meet Department of Transportation safety standards. Regular inspections, current registrations, and up-to-date operating authority documentation.
HazMat Handling
Drivers are trained in OSHA HAZWOPER protocols for containers that held hazardous materials. Proper labeling, manifesting, and spill response kits on every truck.
Secured Loading
IBCs are strapped, blocked, and braced according to FMCSA cargo securement rules. Load integrity checks at pickup, during transit, and upon delivery.
Insurance Coverage
Full commercial auto liability, cargo insurance, and environmental pollution liability coverage on every shipment. Certificates of insurance available on request.
GPS Tracking
Real-time GPS tracking on all fleet vehicles allows us to provide accurate ETAs and monitor shipment status from pickup to delivery.
Spill Prevention
Trucks carry absorbent materials, containment booms, and drip pans. Drivers follow written spill prevention and response procedures for every load.
What Affects Your Transport Cost
Our transport pricing is transparent and based on a few straightforward factors. No hidden surcharges or surprise fees.
Distance
Transport within the Baltimore metro (0-30 miles) is often included free with buyback or cleaning services. Greater distances are priced per mile with declining rates for longer hauls.
Container Quantity
Per-unit transport cost decreases significantly with volume. A full tractor-trailer (56 IBCs) costs a fraction per unit compared to a small box truck load (8-12 IBCs).
Vehicle Type Required
Liftgate trucks cost more per trip than flatbeds due to specialized equipment. Tractor-trailers offer the best per-unit economics for large volumes.
Scheduling Urgency
Standard scheduling (2-5 days) has no surcharge. Same-day and next-day rush service within the Baltimore metro carries a 25% premium.
Loading Conditions
Facilities with loading docks and forklifts allow faster turnaround. Ground-level sites requiring liftgate or hand-loading may incur additional labor charges.
Hazardous Materials
Containers with hazardous residues require HazMat-trained drivers, manifesting, and specialized handling procedures. This adds a modest per-load surcharge.
How to Prepare for Delivery or Pickup
A little preparation on your end ensures the fastest, safest, and most cost-effective transport experience.
For Pickup (Selling / Recycling)
- Drain All Containers
Ensure IBCs are fully drained. Close all valves and caps securely to prevent leakage during loading and transit.
- Stage in Accessible Area
Position containers at ground level or near a loading dock. Our trucks need minimum 12 feet of clearance height and 10 feet of width for access.
- Keep Labels Intact
Do not remove existing product labels or SDS markings. We need these for proper classification and handling.
- Clear a Path
If containers are inside a building, ensure the path to the loading point is clear of obstructions. Minimum 48-inch width for pallet jack access.
- Have a Contact On-Site
Designate someone at your facility who can direct our driver to the containers and sign the pickup receipt.
- Provide an Accurate Count
An exact container count helps us bring the right truck. If the count changes, call us as early as possible.
For Delivery (Buying / Receiving)
- Confirm Receiving Area
Identify where IBCs should be placed and ensure the area is clear. Containers arrive on pallets and require flat, stable ground.
- Loading Dock or Ground-Level
Let us know your delivery point setup. Dock-height allows fastest unloading. Ground-level deliveries require liftgate trucks.
- Forklift Availability
If you have a forklift, unloading is fastest. If not, specify liftgate delivery when ordering and we will handle ground placement.
- Inspect on Arrival
Check each container against the delivery manifest. Note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing. Contact us within 24 hours for any discrepancies.
- Storage Considerations
Store IBCs on flat surfaces out of direct sunlight when possible. UV exposure degrades HDPE over time. Indoor or shaded storage extends container life.
- Schedule a Receiving Window
Provide a 2-hour delivery window when possible. Our driver will call 30 minutes before arrival with an exact ETA.
Tracking & Communication
We believe you should always know the status of your shipment. Our communication procedures keep you informed from scheduling through delivery completion.
You receive an email or text confirmation within 2 hours of scheduling with the date, time window, truck type, and driver assignment.
A reminder notification 24 hours before your scheduled pickup or delivery with a 2-hour arrival window.
When our driver departs for your location, you receive an alert with the estimated arrival time and driver contact number.
For time-sensitive shipments, we can provide a live GPS tracking link so you can monitor the truck location in real time.
Once pickup or delivery is complete, you receive a digital copy of the signed receipt with the exact container count and condition notes.
Volume and recurring customers receive a dedicated account representative reachable by phone, email, and text for immediate assistance.
Loading & Unloading Requirements
Our crew handles all loading and unloading, but site conditions affect the equipment we bring and the time required. Here are the key requirements by delivery type.
Dock height (48-52 inches), minimum 8-foot door width, pallet jack accessible floor
Customer-provided forklift rated for 2,500+ lbs. Level ground surface.
Level ground surface. No dock needed. 12-foot clearance height. 10-foot access width.
Level surface. Our crew uses dollies and pallet jacks. Slower but works anywhere.
Special Handling for Hazardous Containers
Containers with hazardous residues require additional handling procedures that our HazMat-trained drivers are fully equipped to manage.
- HAZWOPER-certified drivers on all HazMat loads
- Proper DOT placarding and shipping documentation
- Uniform hazardous waste manifest when required
- Spill containment equipment on every truck
- Separate loading from non-hazardous containers
- Sealed, drip-free transport with secondary containment
- Emergency response plan and SDS binder in cab
- 24/7 emergency contact for spill response
